The Best Positive Affirmations for Anxiety

How do affirmations help with anxiety?

In a world often laden with stress and uncertainty, anxiety has become an all-too-common companion for many. Managing anxiety effectively is a crucial aspect of maintaining our mental well-being. One powerful tool in this endeavor is the use of affirmations — positive statements aimed at reshaping our thought patterns and promoting a healthier mindset. In this blog, we will explore the potential of affirmations in mitigating anxiety and improving our overall quality of life.

Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements that, when repeated and believed, can influence our subconscious mind. They serve to challenge and reframe negative thoughts, instilling confidence and altering our perceptions. By incorporating affirmations into our daily routine, we can begin to cultivate a more optimistic outlook, making it a valuable tool in managing anxiety.

When to use these affirmations?

You can use affirmations at any moment during the day. There have been times where I’ve woken up in the middle of the night with a nightmare and used affirmations to ease me back to sleep. Whenever you feel anxiousness start to creep in, you can use these affirmations to help it subside. It’s also helpful to incorporate affirmations as a part of your daily routine, especially if you struggle with anxiety on a regular basis. To make affirmations a regular part of your routine, consider the following tips:

Add it to your morning ritual: Begin your day with positive affirmations by adding them into your regular morning routine, like in between sips of coffee or after you brush your teeth.

Use Sticky Notes as Reminders: Place affirmations on sticky notes where you'll see them frequently as gentle reminders, like on your bathroom mirror or nightstand.

Stack them on to a habit you already have: If you’ve ever read Atomic Habits by James Clear, you’ll be familiar with habit stacking and why it’s so effective. In case you haven’t habit stacking is the practice of performing a new desired habit at the same time as something you already have as an established habit.

For example, let’s say you drink tea every night before bed, try repeating your affirmations in between sips of tea. You’ll be more likely to stick with your new habit of repeating affirmations since you’ll already be drinking your regular nightly tea.
