We all go through ups and downs. When we are working hard to release weight or get in better shape, our routine is everything! However sometimes things don’t go as planned. Kids get sick, cars break down…you get the idea. The important thing is how you handle it. Not physically deal with it, but mentally. It’s easy to feel frustrated, which can lead to emotional eating or skipping workouts—you know, the slippery slope.

Instead try to see something positive. In my book Finding the Voice Inside You I talk about just that. If your kids are home sick, take some extra time to prepare healthy meals for later in the week or workout at home. Maybe they need the downtime to feel better and maybe, just maybe, you may need a little rest yourself.

Be grateful for the time with them. Realize that some things are out of your control, and find the blessing in it all!
